With over 20-years of experience as an executive in the financial, tech, nonprofit, management, and innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem, her expertise spans over international development, strategy, finance/accounting, CDFIs & development finance, operations, education, gender, leadership, and policy development.
As a principal independent consultant, she collaborates with international organizations to focus on strategy, resource development, compliance, finance, internal controls, and policies. Her clients span from Africa to Europe to the U.S. Awamary previously served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Operating Officer for Carolina Small Business Development Fund, where she managed their social financial impact and operations.
Her notable accomplishments include founding North Carolina's Black Entrepreneurship Week and pioneering the first-ever partnership between a university and loan fund to create an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in a minority community. She also co-founded PointClick Technologies, a cloud management company operating in 4 continents. Her work in tech, innovation, and girls' empowerment has been featured by Forbes Africa and Business Chief and has been recognized as one of 35 Rising Women in Africa by NBC Washington, and other various publications, globally. She was awarded Leaders in Diversity by the Triangle Business Journal and nominated for Woman of the Year by Spectacular Magazine.
Her past roles include serving as the Regional Finance Executive for The American Red Cross and Chief Financial Officer for Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. Awamary is a sought-after speaker at numerous conferences and forums, and she has participated in forums and roundtables at the White House, Harvard University, U.S. Congress, Casa Africa in Spain, and various government offices in The Gambia and the United States to impact policy for minorities, tech, education, women, and small businesses. Additionally, she serves as an advisor and subject matter expert for high-level government officials and sits on numerous nonprofit boards in both the US and The Gambia.
Awamary holds an MBA from Upper Iowa University, has completed Executive Education Programs at Harvard University and Duke University, and earned her Bachelor of Science from Shaw University.
